Important information
Paradise Tattoo & Piercing mainly uses Industrial Strength internal thread and Neometall “push in” piercing jewelry. We do not perform piercings with customers' own jewelry. The exception is if the jewelry was originally purchased from us. We do not compromise on quality, but always want the best possible quality for our customers. Our jewelry manufacturers also promise a lifetime guarantee for the stone settings.
Reasons to use push-in jewelry:
-Externally threaded jewelry tears the tissue in the piercing hole when you change the jewelry.
-Externally threaded jewelry collects bodily secretions (blood, tissue fluid, etc.) in the threads, which may cause infections over time.
-Externally threaded jewelry increases the risk of scarring in the piercing.
-Quality control on externally threaded jewelry is generally much worse than on internally threaded jewelry.
-Stone heads for jewelry are much more durable in internally threaded jewelry.
Piercing jewelry:
We offer a wide range of titanium and gold piercing jewelry, almost all of which are safe for first-time piercings. We order gold jewelry from manufacturers such as BVLA, Body Gems, Junipurr, Leroi, Anatometal, Sacred Symbols & Kiwi Jewelry. All of our jewelry manufacturers promise a lifetime guarantee for the stone settings in their jewelry.
Own jewelry:
For safety reasons, we do not pierce with customers' own jewelry. If the jewelry has been previously purchased from us, then it is possible, but we prefer to process the jewelry at least four days or at least two days before the piercing time. Place the jewelry in a minigrip bag, the bag in an envelope, on which you write your contact information, as well as the procedure information. You can drop the envelope at any time in our mailbox. It is important to remember that jewelry is personal, and jewelry that others have used should not be worn.
Price:
Internally threaded, hand-polished jewelry costs more than common basic jewelry because it is more expensive to produce, but as a result, it is also gentler on your body. Creating the threads is more difficult and costly, and the extremely important hand polishing and quality control also take time.
When purchasing jewelry, tattoos, or other body modifications, it's good to remember that quality is worth paying for.
Booking Appointment
You can book an appointment through our website. Whether it’s a piercing or just a jewelry change, an appointment is required for ALL procedures. Booking is easy. This also eliminates unnecessary waiting and queues, and ensures that everyone gets enough time for their procedure.
If the piercing you want is not listed in the appointment booking or you want one or more special piercings, please contact the piercer first to confirm the appointment.
Age limits:
A 15-18 year old reads through a customer form asking for the guardian's consent to the piercing in question. The form confirms that the guardian has given permission for the piercing, meaning the guardian does not need to be present. A guardian must be present at all times for anyone under 15 years old. For those under 15 years old, we only perform piercings on the earlobe (the lower part of the ear).
We do not perform nipple or genital piercings on anyone under the age of 18. Microdermals are also for adults only.
We do not pierce children under 7 years of age.
Permission slips are not valid. An 18-year-old is an adult and can do whatever they want.
Anesthetic ointments:
Do not use numbing creams (e.g. Emla) when you come to get a piercing. Numbing creams often slow down healing. We refuse to pierce with creams.
Customer card:
The person who gets the piercing will receive a personal card with the size of the jewelry, the piercing, the artist, and the date. The card also contains comprehensive care instructions for the piercings and contact information.
Piercing room:
Piercings are performed in our shop in a separate closed room to ensure complete privacy and cleanliness. Our shop is inspected and approved by the Finnish health authorities. The piercing room has a clearly separated clean working area and a separate area for dirty instruments and waste. All surfaces and tables are easy to clean and hygienic. The worktops and piercing chair are disinfected every time you come to work and always between clients. The floors and other surfaces are washed regularly and kept clean and tidy.
The jewelry, needles, etc. used in the procedure are carefully opened from the sterile packaging with clean gloves without touching the instruments. The area to be pierced is carefully disinfected and the piercing site is marked using a disposable sterilized marker stick and antiseptic ink.
A breathing mask and disposable sterile gloves are used during piercing. The piercing is performed with a disposable sterile piercing needle, which is disposed of in a specially designed needle container immediately after the piercing. All needles, scalpel blades, skin punches, etc. instruments that pierce the skin are disposable without exception. After the piercing, the piercing and the surrounding skin are cleaned with sterile saline solution.
Used forceps and other instruments are transferred to a lidded storage container with a disinfecting instrument solution, where they are transported to a separate washing and sterilization room at the end of the day.
Equipment maintenance:
The washing and sterilization of used instruments takes place in Paradise's separate sterilization room. The instruments are first cleaned in ultrasonic cleaners (there are separate washers for tattoo and piercing instruments). After washing, the instruments are rinsed, dried and placed in autoclave bags. The bags are sealed with a heat sealer, after which they are sterilized in a class B vacuum autoclave. Paradise's vacuum autoclave is tested regularly to ensure that sterilization remains reliable and safe.
Care instructions
Care for facial, ear and body piercings: (care instructions for oral piercings can be found below)
- Rinse the piercing with running water once a day (e.g. when showering). Rinsing with water keeps the wound area clean and gently removes dried wound secretions and dirt. Do not remove the jewelry from the piercing for cleaning during healing!
- Dry the piercing gently by applying pressure with a clean gauze pad.
- Spray a small amount of Neilmed sterile saline solution into the piercing twice a day and dry thoroughly with a gauze pad. You can also use a pharmacy saline solution, e.g. moistened with lint-free paper or gauze.
- Do not use disinfectants or oils! Alcohol, Betadine, hydrogen peroxide, etc. disinfectants are too strong and, with continuous use, destroy the skin's natural moisture and bacterial population (normal flora), causing the skin to dry out and also the renewing skin cells to die. Oils and creams prevent the wound from breathing and act as perfect breeding grounds for bacteria and collect dirt.
- Change clothes, sheets, etc. frequently and keep them clean.
- Do not touch the piercing or move the jewelry. Moving will irritate the piercing and reopen the healing wound. A scab that has dried on the stem of the jewelry may also tear the wound when moved.
- Don't sleep on your piercings.
- Avoid sweating, saunas, swimming, contact with mucous membranes, etc., especially for the first 4 weeks. Rinse the piercing thoroughly with running water immediately after sweating, swimming, etc., or if you know that dirt may have gotten into the piercing.
- Avoid getting makeup, hair and cosmetic products, etc. into the piercing.
- Be careful of bumps, tears, adhesions, etc. in the piercing area and let the piercing heal in peace. Also, no headphones over the ear piercing.
- Live healthily. Sleep and eat well.
- It is a good idea to protect your microdermals with a sterile patch or similar during the first month at night and if you are doing anything where the piercing can easily get bruised or infected. However, do not keep the piercing covered all the time and remember to keep it clean.
Contact us immediately if you have any problems or questions with your piercing!
Treatment of oral piercings:
- Maintain good oral hygiene. Brush your teeth thoroughly morning and night. Do not put anything dirty in your mouth.
- Rinse your mouth with sterile saline solution 2-4 times a day.
- You can also use saline solution from a pharmacy.
- Rinse your mouth thoroughly with clean, cold water after meals, snacks, etc.
- Do not use antiseptic mouthwashes such as Oral-B, Corsodyl, Betadine, etc. Antiseptic mouthwashes are too strong for continuous use and destroy the natural bacterial population in the mouth as well as renewing skin cells.
- Avoid these for at least the first couple of weeks:
- alcoholic beverages
– mucosal contact (tongue kissing, oral sex, sharing bottles and eating utensils, etc.)
– hot, spicy, sour, etc. foods and drinks
– Smoking should be reduced for the first few days. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with clean, cold water after smoking. - Don't play with the piercing!
- Drinking plenty of ice water, taking ibuprofen, and resting will help with swelling and pain. During the first couple of weeks, it is a good idea to sleep with your head elevated above your heart to prevent swelling.
- Once the swelling has subsided (usually about 2-4 weeks after the piercing), the jewelry should be replaced with a shorter one. Jewelry that is too long can cause damage to the teeth and gums.
